Terms of Service (Including End User License Agreement)

These Terms of Use ("Agreement") govern your access to and use of the iobar application ("App") and form a legal agreement between you ("User") and the provider of the App ("Provider"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to comply with this Agreement.

1. Service Overview

iobar is a free menu bar manager for macOS that lets users sort menu bar items into sections and hide the ones they don't need.

All settings and data stay on the user's device and are not sent to any server operated by the Provider.

2. Intellectual Property & Disclaimer

  • All intellectual property rights in the App and its contents belong to the Provider.
  • The App is provided "as is" without any warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose or error-free functionality.

3. License Grant (EULA)

The Provider grants the User a free, non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited license to install and use the App on Macs the User owns or controls, in accordance with this Agreement.

4. Distribution and Updates

  • The App is distributed directly by the Provider, not through the Mac App Store, as a download signed with an Apple Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple.
  • The App can check for and install updates through the Sparkle framework. Updates are covered by this Agreement unless they come with different terms.

5. Restrictions

The User shall not:

  • Decompile, reverse engineer, disassemble, or modify the App
  • Copy, redistribute, sell, rent, or sublicense the App or any part of it
  • Use the App for any unlawful, unauthorized, or harmful purpose

6. User Responsibilities

  • Users are responsible for how they use the App, including which menu bar items they choose to hide.
  • The Provider is not liable for any data loss, errors, or user mistakes.

7. Service Limitations

  • The App's functionality depends on the macOS Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions and on how macOS manages the menu bar.
  • The Provider is not responsible for any issues arising from system permission restrictions or macOS updates that change menu bar behavior.

8. Service Modification and Termination

  • The Provider reserves the right to modify or discontinue the App or any part of its features at any time.
  • The User may stop using the App at any time by quitting it and deleting it from the Applications folder.
